Hyaluronic acid is used in varying concentrations and viscosity depending on the requirements of the treatment in question. Injections with hyaluronic acids provide stable results for 12 to 18 months, significantly longer than for comparable treatment using collagen.

In addition to filler products from respected manufacturers, there are a growing number of substances on the market that contain questionable ingredients and are manufactured by less than reputable companies. Mixing bio-implants with non-absorbable fillers is risky.

Products which contain acrylics as fillers and which promise very long lasting or even permanent results are particularly worrying. Permanent damage can be caused if these materials are used incorrectly. At the present time we know of no preparations which do not carry at least the risk of causing allergic reactions, even in rare cases.
