A patients´own fat can be used to enlarge the lips or to plump up wrinkles. To obtain good and long lasting results, the correct processing of the fat and the careful insertion of the transplant are mandatory. After one year about half of the fat has become permanently attached to the surrounding tissues.

A wrinkle treatment can be carried out using various techniques. One of the main treatments is plumping up and filling. Various materials, known as wrinkle fillers, are available. External smoothing and leveling may be achieved by dermal abrasion or by paralysing hyperactive mimetic muscles with Botulinum toxin injections.

Today many different methods are available to smooth individual sections of the face by line correction in order to attain a youthful and attractive appearance. Wrinkles can be filled with various materials. Collagen and hyaluronic acid are very popular. An allergy test must be carried out before treatment with collagen, as this is of animal origin and is therefore a foreign protein. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, is a synthetically produced product,  noted for its good tolerance and for which no prior tests are required. However, the positive effects of correction only last for approx. 6-12 months.

Unwanted facial lines can be safely and quickly smoothed out with injections using the bioimplants, collagen and hyaluronic acid. Depending on the depth of the lines, the implants are injected into the uppermost layer of the skin or below. The effect lasts for between 4 and 12 months, depending on the material. If tried and tested products from respected manufacturers are used, problems seldom arise.

A cosmetic operation can make the face suddenly appear ten years younger. In order that the result is permanent and optimum, skin care must be taken into consideration. We also advise patients in this respect and give valuable recommendations. In most cases a  retinol (Vitamin A) treatment should be included in the daily care routine. Dr. Dr. Muggenthaler recommends his own formula.

Injecting with hyaluronic acid is a simple method of smoothing facial lines. This is synthetically produced and therefore only presents an extremely low risk of allergy. The effect may last for over a year and is therefore much longer lasting than collagen injections.  A local anaesthetic should be administered before treatment, as discomfort and pain may occur.

Lines have been injected with collagen for over twenty years. As this material is produced from cow hide, allergies may occur in rare cases. An allergy test should therefore be carried out before any treatment. Only tried and tested products from well-established manufacturers should be used. The effect lasts between four and six months. 

In the face even small scars can be particularly disturbing or disfiguring. However it is often possible to completely remove a scar or or make it less obvious by means of a suitable plastic correction operation. The skill of the person carrying out the treatment is a crucial factor.

For several years synthetic lactic acid (New Fill) has been used to inject lines and to plump up tissue. The advantage of this method lies in the longer effect of this treatment, which lasts about 2 years. However, some problems and complications have been reported.  In any case, this procedure should only be carried out by an experienced practitioner.
