A forehead lift results in an impressive improvement in the expression of the face. Facial expression is determined by the eyebrows, the eyelids and the formation of wrinkles on the skin of the forehead. If the skin of the forehead loses its fixation, gravity pulls it downwards. This is noticeable in the drooping of the eyebrows. If the area of the eyes appears smaller, a person looks tired, sad or reserved. Deep wrinkles on the forehead caused by age reinforce this tense and unfriendly facial expression.  

A forehead lift raises the eyebrows permanently, eliminating annoying wrinkles.  Two types of operation can be carried out: a high forehead can be shortened or a low hairline can be raised.  The results of  forehead lifting can be easily simulated in the mirror. Lifting the eyebrows opens the eyes, smoothing the skin of the lids and cheeks, leading to very impressive rejuvenation. Often a combination of corrections makes more sense, as an isolated measure such as  an upper eyelid correction only provides a one-sided solution to the problem.

Prior to surgery, blood tests and an electro-cardiogram (ECG) are carried out, a safety measure to ensure that the risk of intervention is not increased by any unfavourable conditions. On the basis of the tests and the information provided during consultation, the anesthetist will decide which medication you can take regularly.

 

A forehead-temple lifting is carried out under twilight sedation and local anesthesia. During surgery the forehead skin is lifted, the overactive mimetic muscles are precisely weakened and the deep wrinkles are plumped with the patient´s own fat. The choice of the position of the incisions depends on the height of the forehead.

In order to be able to guarantee the highest possible quality of the treatment, we never carry out surgeries under time pressure. Thanks to methods which we have tested over the course of many years, our patients have significantly fewer problems with swelling and discoloration than patients treated with other forehead-temple lifting methods.

In order to reduce any swelling or bruising to a minimum, the region of the eyes, temples and forehead are cooled immediately after surgery. Pain is not to be anticipated.

The drains are removed the morning after the surgery. Your hair can already be washed again. In our clinic, bandages are not applied after a forehead-temple lift.  To improve the healing process, lymph gland drainage, oxygen treatment and reflex zone massage are carried out by  trained physiotherapists from the first day after the operation. Healing is also enhanced by a refined skin and scar care program with selected ointments.  These steps are designed to ensure that swelling quickly subsides and discoloration is only minimal or non-existent.

The stitches are removed after eight days. After ten to fourteen days patients are usually able to resume normal social activities. Sports activities should be avoided in the first six weeks after lifting as swelling and a feeling of tension may recur. 

In order to support the healing process further, lymph gland drainage treatment carried out by a trained physiotherapist or cosmetician once or twice a week may be beneficial. We would pleased to give you further advice about this.
